Two of my works, I See the Light and Wind Carved Snow Drift are currently on display at Augustana University's Center for Western Studies. This exhibition features art from 22 regional artists.
A few weeks ago, my husband and I attended the artist reception. It was a lovely reception, very welcoming and enjoyable. Each artist had the opportunity to share who they are and talk about their work a little. I really enjoyed learning about the other artists.
I See the Light is the farthest to the right. It is presented under acrylic, my favorite printing method, and is 12x24.
Wind Carved Snow Drift (second from left) is also printed under acrylic and is 12x24. This piece won Best of Show at the Dahl Arts Center during the Mountain Culture Photo Exhibit.
Both pieces are for sale. Please contact me if interested: cristen@cristenjoyphotography.com.
I had the honor of being part of an interview about this exhibit on SDPB's In the Moment broadcast several weeks ago. You can listen to it here.
This show is held until August 25, 2017.
To see the list of all artists, please visit Augustana's website. You will also find times the gallery is open and it's location.

Lake Michigan {North Point Marina, Winthrop Harbor}
For the past week and a half I've been MIA from SoDak. I went to visit my family in the Chicagoland area.
I spent an evening on the Lake with my daughter. This was such a fun photo shoot, despite the gnats flying everywhere. The birds sure enjoyed a feast!
We enjoyed a picnic supper on the rocks at North Point Marina. This was by far the most enjoyable shoot I've ever gone on with my daughter. We just enjoyed the evening's colors, the sound of the water and some tasty simple food.
I absolutely love working with long exposure, especially how it creates the silky soft billows of water around the rocks.
This trip was one of the most relaxing trips I've taken back east but am I ever so thankful to be home again! I will post some photos of our trip down to the city sometime in the next few weeks.
